ARoS brings Danish Golden Age painting and modernism together with international contemporary art and immersive installations. Its collection ranges from painted landscapes to the coloured glass of Your rainbow panorama. The Collection

The museum traces its beginnings to 1859; its present building at Aros Allé 2 opened in April 2004. Painting, sculpture, photography, prints and drawings share the collection with video and installation art.

Its collection strengths include Danish Golden Age and modernism, Danish and international contemporary art, video and installation art, and large-scale immersive works.

    Eliasson's coloured glass walkway circles the museum roof. The permanent work opened in May 2011 and extends for 150 metres.

    Ron Mueck

    Mueck made a crouching boy with lifelike skin on a giant scale. ARoS purchased the sculpture in 2001; it measures 4.5 metres in height.
